The show at the Monkey was fun last night.  we played so late, though, that there weren't many people there.  And we were misbilled pretty thoroughly.  Haha.  So our set was a little sloppy.  But, still a good time, I think.  People that were there seemed to have fun.

My fingers are killing me.  I must have played harder than normal or something.  I can barely type.  I rocked too hard.  haha.

About to head out to Chicago to teach.  A reporter is coming today to interview me and the teacher I work with.  Better make sure my hair is tidy :)

Still havent returned Lord of War.  Better take care of that...Hollywood video doesn't have life after latefees.

Not much else going on.  Baked a new bread with orangejuice and teddygrahms.  haven't tried it yet - it came out just as I was leaving last night.

OH the first UIUC LiNK meeting was last night.  That was pretty cool. It's run by a bunch of really young people...it's good to see young people fired up about something good like that.  So yeah I'm looking forward to being involved.  LiNK has asked my band to play at a benefit concert their putting together and be part of a thing they're doing called LiNK:mixtape!  pretty cool, huh?  hehe...

Been in a bit of a piano phase lately....been going easy on the rock.  Not sure why.  Maybe sleeping at the HUB has instilled peace into these weary bones.

    ok I gotta get going.

    Ciao!

Big music update coming soon.  Just threw a bunch of new stuff on my iPod that'd been floating around my Laptop and work computer.  Good times.

Recently watched Lord of War.  Thought it was pretty good.

SG tonight, then heading out to the Hatechoir farm to pick up our gear for tomorrow's show.  Johnnyork (my band) show at the Cowboy Monkey in downtown Champaign, tomorrow night (Thurs, Mar 9) 10pm.  We're playing with a band called the Czars, and another band called Pulsar47.  Pulsar has some folks from At Knifepoint, who were the craziest-cool show the Diamond and I had seenin awhile.  Alas it was their last show and we never saw them again.  So, yeah Pulsar should rock.  And Johnnyork.  And the Czars.  So check it out :)

Tomorrow's going to be busy, in fact.  I got practice for the singing team at 6, then the first meeting for UIUC's new LiNK chapter (which is awesome!) at 7:30, then the show at 10.  Hopefully I make it to the Monkey by about 9.  9:30 at the latest.  Show starts at 10, so I should be fine.  No LiNK meeting is going to last 2.5 hours!

Actually, if you're interested, you should come.  It's at 7:30, at the FARPAR Multi-purpose room (does anyone know where that is?).  There will be food and drinks, and they'll go over what the mission and vision for LiNK is.  Here's LiNK-midwest's xanga for details.

Oh!  I'm finally geting's Ayumi's new album.  Came out like 3 months ago and I'd been really lazy...too poor these days to actually buy imports, too lazy to troll online.  but, yeah I'm getting it now.  Excited :)

    Get back to work peoples!

    Ciao!

So, yeah I guess I've been neglecting my blog for awhile.  It seems like a lot of people have been walking away from their xangas, closing their accounts, or just disappearing altogether.  I've been on here for 2 years now and I've seen a lot of people come and go.  I wonder what ever happened to Kitty and Dunda, Huk_in_WA, Puf, LW...the list goes on.  People come and go.  I, most likely, won't be going anywhere in the long run, but my hiatuses have been getting longer and longer.

Does it bother you when you get random comments from people?  Do you consider it "stalking" if someone you don't know stumbles across your site and starts reading?  Half my subs, and half the subs I have, are from that kind of situation.

I dunno where I'm going with this.  I haven't been feeling very well today.  Ended up not going to the HUB and coming home instead.  I think I'm going to bed.

PCry, I'm really happy for you but I worry too...nowhere to leave a comment though.  Be careful...even forseen shakeups can produce profound saddess.

Oh daddy dear, you know you're still #1.

Phew, it's been awhile!  Busy weekend.  Did some much-needed yardwork on Saturday but ran out of lawn-bags.  That ended that endeavor pretty quick.  I need to pick back up this weekend.  Had coffee w/ Shandy, headed over the HUB, pulled a marathon session.  DJ et al came to UAG on Sunday, which was a nice surprise.  Band practice.  Gathering thing at the HUB w/ P.Min from CFC, then cooking and cleaning for the class at my place.

CFC suffered a loss over the weekend, and it's had me thinking a lot about everything.  Our lives are much more precious than we usually acknowledge.  The fact that this "Unofficial" business seems to be involved is especially heartbreaking.  I definitely feel for everyone affected...

Not much else to say.  Been sleepy lately.  Working.  The usual.  Thursday is going to be busy - practice for the praise team, then the first meeting for the new LiNK (Liberation in North Korea) chapter at UIUC, then Cowboy Monkey.  Oh yeah, my band is playing at Cowboy Monkey on Thursday, 10PM.  Be there...we've got shirts now!  $6!

    Ciao bambinos.

Whoa...my productivity-post on Newsvine is the top post!  If you go to the site, under "Most Votes" there I am, with 44 votes.  Here's the actual post: Lifehacks" - More Than Just Geeky Tips and Tricks.

Newsvine went public yesterday and there was a lot of concern that it would become a mess like Digg.com, but it's actually been pretty smooth so far.  What's nice is now I can post links to my stories here.  Before, Newsvine was a private beta and you couldn't just link into it.

The conference went well.  J ended up not feeling well and came back early, so I manned her poster as well as mine.  It was a long day of schmoozing and smiling.  But smiling is good for you, so I'm not complaining.

I think I'm going to take a short nap before CFC LG.  Then, not sure.  Shandy is in town, but is probably busy tonight.  Maybe hang out w/ DJ and her peoples, or maybe actually visit HH.  Havne't been to Guido's in ages.

That's it Xanga-McNuggets.  I'll post some more stuff later.  For now, I'm izzzzzout.

    Ciao

For Ms. Dolly, most excellent photographer and xangafriend, I present my long-delayed "floor shots."  (in fact, I have many more, but these were the ones I could wrangle up for now ):

I'll wrangle some more up for you later :)

Been working on a post in Newsvine.  I've actually made quite a few posts in there.  It's a pretty neat news site that lets you submit and blog about various news topics.  It's in beta right now and (don't ask me how) I got an invite.  Soon, the beta will be over and anyone will be able to access it, and I'll start posting links to it then.  In the meantime, I'm working on a post about productivity.  Haha.

That's about it for now. Just working and stuff in the meantime. Crazy continuum code behaving funny. Everybody funny. Now you funny to. Heard back from a dude at CFC I contacted about getting a few minutes to talk about next week's PC and PMin's visit on Sunday.

Went to Ruby Tuesday last night w/ DJ.  yeah kinda random, but not really.  They have something called the Tallcake, which she digs. Actually, I dig it now too.

Apparently "dig" is a funny word.  Especially when I say it.  About myself.

Oooo We Are Scientists is so delicious...I've been meaning to post about that for awhile.

    There.  Done.

    Aqualung rocks too :)

No longer in the Union.  Had to pee too bad.  Came back to the lab.  As predicted, my productivity has plummeted.

    1:04 PM (CST)

Busy weekend!  On my way back from Chicago on Friday, P.T. called and asked me to pick up some fliers at the HUB before going to CFC LG.  Had to get the keys from Fades first, then run to the HUB, then run back to wesley.  barely made it, but actually ended up with about 2 minutes to spare :P

Shandy came down on Saturday and we hung out, got some pizza, walked around dt Champaign for a bit.  Good times :)

Our show went really well at night.  I think we all thought we sounded bad, but we got more props than normal, so i guess it sounded ok from the other side of the stage.  Lots of friends came out, but half of them came too late...hehe next time. next time.

Yesterday was mad busy too but i finished the CFC notes, got my record review for OpeningBands.com done, cooked for a potluck at PT's place, and hosted the classat my place after.  sheesh.

I forgot my lab keys this morning, and no one was in at 8:30, so I just came to the Union and set up shop, using the wireless to access the NCSA computers.  I've been here ever since, and have actually been getting quite a bit done.  The only problem is that getting a table is so hard after about 10AM that i can't get up or I'll loose my spot.  I need to pee!  ahhh!  haha.  I can hold it a little longer.  Once I can't hold it any more, then it'll be time to go I guess :P

ECM tonight, lunches and dinners tomorrow.  Going to Chicago on Thursday this week for a conference I'm presenting a poster at.  Got my poster finished last Fridaym when I wasup in Chicago teaching.  Gotta practice tonightb/c I'm supposed to give a mock presentation tomorrow at our GK12 meeting.

Not sure if anyone really got any of that last paragraph.  Maybe KP, since she has the Rosetta stone.

    Ciao

Auditioned for and made it into the singing team at my church. P.R.'s going to work with me and help me figure out why I always lose my voice after Johnnyork shows.  We have a show this Saturday, so I'm going to take special care of my voice and pay attention to how it feels.  I'm not singing this Sunday, but there will definitely be times when I'll have to sing the day after a show.

Countless websites I've visted have stressed that if you're hoarse the day after a show, you're doing something wrong.  So, we'll see.

I used to exist in a life totally of excess.  I withdrew for a bit, and was in a place of lacking.  Now I'm in between.  Which is where I need to be.  I have everything I need now.  Anything else I get from here on is a bonus.

Heading up to Chicago today, as usual.  Just helping with a lab, though, so I didn't really have to do any prep.  Still working on my poster for the IL-TCE conference next week.  It's a teaching conference and my poster is about translating traditional activities into student-centered activities.

So, yeah Johnnyork this Saturday in Urbana.  Independent Media Center (I.M.C.)  Doors open at 7 I think, show gets going around 8.  It's all-ages which I'm really excited about.

CFC LG tonight, then hanging out w/ LK for a bit.  Early sleep b/c of the show. Shandy's coming into to town tomrrow - gonna hang out during the day.  get some jupiters.  good times.

say it with me: "Good Times."

    ok party peoples, I'm out.

Going out to dinner w/ my advisor, our guests, and some other folks in our research group.  Free Biagis...can't beat that.

After that, working on my IL-TCE (teaching conference) poster.  Then staring longingly at the SVU Valentines dreaming that Mariska gave me one.

    I'm extra special.

    2:38 PM (CST)

Hmm bit of a silence, eh?  Well, in my defence, I was pretty much away from a computer for 3 days.

Chicago on Saturday was superfun.  Hit up this crazy $12 breakfast buffet.  I've never seen so many mimosas.  Cruised around some more, enjoyed the bitter bitter cold weather.  Good times.  Say it with me...

    "Good Times."

haha.  Sunday was a blur.  I was freaking out about all the things I have coming up, but I felt better as the day went on and I realized the negotiability (is that a word?) of some of the stuff.

We've got visitors in from UCSB so yesterday and today we've been in meetings.  This is why I haven't been able to get an update in.  Bad me.

    -----------

So....I'm feeling kind of lost right now.  I'm worried about work.  I'm worried about walls falling.  Maybe even walls going up.  I don't know.  I feel...well...lost.   I feel like I've been letting people down.  Complicating situations.  Not communicating well.  Everything just feels a little off.

I worry a lot.  I'm definitely the worrying type.

Strange things are afoot at the CircleK.

  • 3:20 PM (CST)  AUDREY! Look at these bags! This is bush!

Shoot...I had something to write and now I've forgotten.  Had Sbarro for lunch.  it was...ok.  B would be proud.  He was always fond of Sbarros.  When he was still with us.

Work is LAME-O.  but it always it.

Finished those notes from last Friday, but I have to redo them.  Don't ask.  It's probably going to take another 3 days.  Aiya.

Need to take care of the massive car-related paperwork looming...I need to get a Illinois license,  register the new car, sell the old one, and get insurance for the new one.  Man I wish I lived on my own island.

Oh, and, for clarification, ms shandy DID in fact once write a post about kids on the subway.  I'm gonna put it out there; if you like it, you can take it, if you don't, send it right back.

Ok I had more to say but I can't, for the life of me, remember what.

I'm not actually listening to one of these albums.  Can you guess which one?

    ----------------------

Phew.  Long day.  Finally finished the notes from LG last week.  That was a beast.  But rewarding.  Can't wait to do it again.

Seeing a certain mustard-flavored seed troupe do some dancing this Friday.  Looking forward to that too.

Dinner didn't work out last night, so I ended up going to a vday party with chocolate fountains and indiana jones.  not bad.

I've been working on a continuum-equation dual-surface deposition code, which is what I did a lot of today, other than the LG notes.  That's all I'm gonna say about that since I doubt anyone cares.

Did I mention that, holy crap, my face is so freaking fat?  all that chocolate yesterday just solidified my fears.

Chicago is gonna rule this weekend.  Tristran's Mistress and I are going to ride the subway for 6 hours and eat hotdogs.  I think she has a penchant for scaring little kids or something.  Didn't you write a post about children on the subway once?

Has anyone here ever been to Berghoffs in Chicago?  It's kind of expensive.  We're both kinda broke.  I think we're just going to stand outside and leave palmprints on the windows.

    Bergh-off to you too!

    Haha. that's awesome.
