10:03 AM (CST) Wow...it's been awhile. Sorry about that. Almost a week, I guess. I'll try to do better. The Strokes show was awesome. It was a good mini-vacation. I knew all the songs they played (except maybe one cover) and so those shows are always good for me. We got back pretty late, so I went straight home and slept. I had meant to take care of a bunch of stuff on Saturday at the DMV, but I hung around my house too long and the places closed. I didn't realize they all closed at noon. So, I'll have to do that this week. I NEED TO DO MY TAXES!!! aiya...haha. I did put money into my IRA yesterday, so that's step 1 at least. Hmm what else? Band practice tonight. Show on Friday, which I'll have to book from immediately after since it's GF. Going baptizin' on Sunday, which is pretty exciting I guess. My "testimony" is due today. I wrote one last week, but this one needs to be shorter. Maybe I can post it...I guess that would answer a lot of questions that, up till now, I've kinda left hanging on this blog. Sunday's actually going to be pretty crazy. I'm singing at the 8 and 9:30AM services at UAG, but I'm getting baptized at CFC at 12:30, so I'll be running all over town. 12:30, Lincoln Hall. I'd love it if you came Stayed up late at the HUB last night talking with a friend. I gotta learn to stop talking. haha. Oo getting a free dental checkup on Thursday. Also helping out with GK12 interviews. That's about it. I feel like a whole week went by, but I didn't write much. Really, I'll try to do better. I have lots of other peoples' blogs to catch up with as well. Take care bambinos. it's a beautiful day. Ciao

Just lost a post. Took me about half an hour to write. Sad...I'm gonna cry
I'll try to recreate it.
Things have been going...pretty bad lately. I'm still not getting any sleep, and walking around like a total zombie. things are a mess at work for a whole host of reasons. The biggest reason isn't really my fault, I suppose, but the other little ones are as much mine as anyone elses'.
Got some hard-to-swallow insights last night from someone far wiser than me; I'm still pretty shaken up. Which is good. I need to be shaken up. Got back from CUCC at about 3:30AM and slept in to get at least a little sleep. I hope my hair doesn't start falling out.
I was asked to speak on the quad tomorrow, which had me stressed all week. I just found out it may not happen quite the way it was planned, and if so, then what I would have said will be done in written form instead. So now the prospect of writing has me freaking out.
I just found out that Johnnyork has been booked for a show on May 5, which I totally had no idea about. I'm wondering if it's a typo or something. I'm freaking out b/c I'm not at work so I don't have access to my work calendar, so I have no idea if I'm even free. Friday's are normally supposed to be off-limits, and I sorta bent on that for next week since it was a big show, but normally I'm swamped on Fridays.
We have a show next week too, and we've been unable to find a day where we can all practice. The last few weeks people have been in and out of town, so we haven't been able to get together, and it looks like that'll probably carry over to next week. Saturday was my free day, but Sunday was everyone elses'...sigh. Hopefully they get together without me at least and run through stuff. I've been trying to practice on my own a little.
Diamond brought the 4-track to work so I can pick it up, but I had about 2 minutes free yesterday and totally forgot to get it
I'll try today, Smokie, promise. I'd been working on some songs as far back as 3 months ago, but i never had time to finish them. C-note wrote a song which I could easily do vocals and a melody for, but we've got no time to practice it before our next show. Hopefully I'll at least get the ones I'd been working on recorded sometime. Maybe Saturday, since we can't practice.
ARGH i have SO much other stuff I need to do too...I need to go get my parents' car registered with me, sell my old car, change my license, and get insurance. I need to do my taxes. I need to deposit money into my IRA. I need to clean up the space next to my house. I need to somehow dispose of 9 giant bags of yardwaste sitting in my garage...
I need a vacation.
Oh I'm getting baptized on Easter, so anyone who wants to come see that, let me know. it'll be on, well, easter. haha. That's one of the few things I'm not stressing about (although I have to go to a class this Saturday night, and I have no idea what that's about). Good Friday is another story though... my stomach is in knots over that one (actually, you may be able to discern from this post why). Strokes concert tomorrow, which I'm excited about. I really need to listen up on the Strokes and Eagles of Death Metal...get myself prepared.
Singing practice tonight, which is also something I'm looking forward to.
ugh i'm a wreck. I'm going to leave it at that and get to work.

Wow...crazy weekend. Barely slept for days. Got stuck in Chicago b/c the Dan Ryan's been reduced to 1 lane both east and west - took me 2.5 hours to get to get to 57. Slept in the Monee McDonalds parking lot! haha...yeah it was that bad. This was after hanging out with a friend who'd been visiting Chicago from Boston. I left around 11:30PM, and got to Monee around 2AM. It was some incredible suckage.
Was at a CFC thing on Saturday, which was cool but a little tough on no sleep. Sung on Sunday for the first time, which was cool. Sung again at night b/c someone bailed or something. Class got cancelled b/c of the tornado-esque thing that ripped through here. no actual tornado, but I was watching some trees get blown 90-degrees from where they should have been. Didn't have power all night and ended up going to sleep around 8PM. Caught up on lots of sleep.
Internet still doesn't seem to be working - stealing someone's wireless right now. Maybe I just need to restart my computer or something b/c the modem is giving all the right lights...
anyway, I'm off. Go slow, homie.

The new Yeah Yeah Yeah's is awesome! I didn't much like the first album at all. But they have finally morphed into the Raveonette-etts that I knew they always could be. The transformation is complete, and I'm officially in love. Can't get enough of this album. Top 10 baby. Top 5 even.
And, yeah I suppose it's actually not out yet. But, no matter.
Did you know Karen O is half korean? The third pic has convinced me that's ok, neigh, cool, to wear my own band's tee shirt.

Been a decent week so far. Got some things sorted out at work, althoughnnow more questions have arisen. Needless to say, research is going kinda slow. the Willis can attest to that. Although he's making more progress than I am.
Oh man...been listening to Gnarles Barkley lately...if you don't know what that is, dude you gotta get with it! DJ Dangermouse (of Grey Album fame) and Cee-lo, of crazy-rapping fame....yeah it's hot. Here's the torrent, if you're down with that kind of thing. Crazy-fast seeders...200kbps+ is what I was pulling, so it should only take like a minute or two to come through.
Duder, I'll mail it to you.
There's an interesting cover of an old Violent Femmes song, Gone Daddy Gone - a song I haven't heard since the last time I listened to Add it Up, probably like 3 years ago. Actually, it's a really good cover. It's cool to hear cee-lo sing it.
Met DJ for dinner last night....Dos Reales. Burrito big as my head. Took some home. Good times. After we went to some bakery for dessert. Sour times.
Haha, no actually just some of the desserts were sour, not the times. The times were good. Say it with me: Good Times.
Things going well at the Hubalub. Found out I'll be doing something, um, kinda crazy next week. But more on that later.
Back to work!

Good trip to DC. Conference was pretty good, got into the city a little, which was nice since i've been gone for so long. Hung out mostly w/ one of the teachers in our program actually, the other chemistry teacher (as opposed to the one I work with). Ate really well on Uncle Sam's tab.
Realized that I have a record review due today, and I didn't even have the record! So I picked it up from our bassist (who happens to be reviewing the album too) and I'm listening to it frantically now. It's ok...Tom Petty-ish, especially some of the vocal harmonies. I'm definitely going to be pulling this one out of the monkeyhole.
ECM tonight, then staying at the hubalub for awhile. I may need to sleep there...who knows. Been working on my chococookies lately. Been getting better.
Work is slugging along. Biked into work today. Pretty far out of shape. So sad...I worked out every day for like 3 years, and now it's been probably 3 or 4 months.
The weather got lousy all of a sudden - was pretty nice this morning, which is the whole reason i biked in in the first place.
Excel folks are back from their trips...nice to have everyone back in town. The hubalub was a lonely place for the week of solitude.
been writing letters. even mailing them. crazybus.
holy crap...Crazybus actually came up the other day...i think I was chatting with a Fellow from another school at the GK12 conference. Crazybus! haha.
ok back to work.
The Willis has hairpiece.

Livin' at the hub, livin' at the hub, been a slow week cause I'm livin' at the hub! Not much going on. Slowly working from here, looking over Matlab sims and discovering that there's no way to do Paramter Estimation only using the first point of interest.
Was going to go home last night and take care of some stuff, and see the boys, but the Willis cancelled, so I just stayed here and added to my backpain by sleeping on a new, less-comfortable couch than usual. Going home today to pack for DC, get some work done, and probably finally sneak off for that movie and quiet RtB at the Blind Pig.
I still have a lot of song-loading to do w/ the pod. I had inteneded to do all that this week, but never really got around to it.
Teaching yesterday went well. The trip to Chicago was pretty last minute so most of the lesson materialized the hour before class started. It'd been awhile since I'd done class without my supervising teacher being there. At least the kids got saved from a day of busyworl.
Man, I feel like I should clarify...video iPods come in SIXTY and THIRTY gigabyte varieties...that's what I meant by 30 vs 60. It's the Nanos (and Minis, which they don't make anymore, in the US anyway) that are in the single-gig range. Up to 4, I think. The sad little Shuffle (sorry diamond and catwoman) is 512MB or 1GB.
Ok that's it for this lame-o update. Hope everything's shaking well. Spring break is almost over peoples, enjoy it!
ooo H2 is coming to visit! How much you wanna bet I don't get to see her
haha ok that was a little pessimistic.

I ended up buying a new iPod on Saturday - I went with the 30, white. I got the service plan which seemed appropriate given the early demise of my first one. I also had to get a new radio broadcaster for the car b/c the old iTrip's don't work with the new video iPods. So, yeah with all that extra cost, I went 30 instead of 60.
Been living at the Hub, slowing getting songs back onto it. Found some good software to convert all kinds of videos into iPod-compatible Quicktime videos. Pretty neat.
Not much else going on . Came home to shower, but working from the Hub and watching over things with Command Center. That's about it. Leaving for DC on Friday. Should be fun, but a whirlwind trip. Going up to Chicago on Wednesday this time, since the teacher I work with will be out of town.
Ok have a good week everyone. I'll try to keep things updated

My iPod died
The hard drive crapped out - it just clicks and grinds, like so many other dead hard drives. I popped the pod open and took it out, and have bid on a new on on eBay...$15.00 so far. I'm not sure how much more I'm willing to go for a used 20GB hard drive.
As much as I've written about simplifying and de-technification, my iPod really was a big deal to me! I had so much music on there...aiya. Luckily everything is backed up, but it'll take me forever to get everything back on there. More than any of the other toys I've been looking at (game consoles, new camera, HDTV) this is probably the thing I most need to replace.
If I lose this bid, I might buy a whole new iPod. 60GB video. all the way. But i have no money. So...I'll have to figure something out. I may look at some other players too, or some other devices that might make a better substitute. Any ideas? Buy an Origami? hehe...even an iPod is cheaper than that.
Anyway, sad times. By He giveth and He taketh away, I guess

Doing some much-needed yardwork and then heading into the Hubalub. Later, tracking down Ms. Poultry to hang out.

Well, that was a fairly painless meeting. For me anyway. The willis bombed.
Haha just kidding. Still, I'm sure he's halfway into a bottle of wine by now.
Haha, just kidding again. Gotcha, peoples!
Going back home...working from my kitchen table is sweet. SG tonight. then back ot the hubalub. Good times.
I think we're heading over to Neil (our bassist's) place on Friday for cabbage and beef, and maybe a few cheap ice'ers. PBR ice anyway?
NO never again. never again.
KP's back...but she's not better than before. OOO face. man I'm unstoppable today!
Suk's right...it's a nice day out. Go walk your dog.
Ciao!

wow it's been too long. Busy times! Teaching went well last Friday. Slept at the HUB to watch guard that night, then slept in a bit on Saturday. Saturday night was a recruitment event I went to. Ended up chatting w/ DPack for awhile and loosing everyone else. Eventually met up w/ chubz, sully, and a recruit. Apparently the recruits were pretty cool this year. At least according to the duder.
UAG, then had LW and MJ over for lunch on Sunday. We hadn't hung out in ages, so we did some good catching up. Meeting at 5, class at 8, the usual stuff.
Worked on Monday. Worked on Tueaday. Working from home this morning. Going in for a meeting at 3. Haha...nothing much going on. Lots of meetings, lots of stuff to take care of at the HUB.
Hmm I need to update the Johnnyork site. Got some things to move into "past shows," and some media to get uploaded. Though, seriously, I'm waiting for like a TON of media from the other bandmates. Let's get that gmail account cooking!
Ugh I really have so little to write. Lot of good things going on in my life, but just things in general. Calmness. Not productivity though. Haha...never productive. But less drama. Less stress. Still lots of stressful stuff, but less stress.
Aiya I have nothing to say. Sorry!
